He Gave His All

No wonder the Father will be angry

When His earthly children fail to see

The miracle of what He had done

When He sent His only begotten Son

This special gift from heaven above

Arrived with all power, authority, and love

Redemtion came as a babe that day

To be the Truth, the Life, and the Way

Bound by the promise to give His all

He willingly answered the Father’s call

His Mama wept her tears of grateful joy

As she held her precious little Boy

Knowing as they were streaming down her face

She had been touched by wondrous grace

Now every mother’s child can chose to be

Redeemed and miraculously set free

“Choose ye this day” is still the call

To serve the One who gave His all.

Come Sunday

The future danced

Beyond my thoughts

He had said, “Come Sunday,

We would be together again-

Just hang on to the hope ahead.”

Then it happened!

I said the wrong thing

Stress exploded

Shattering the promise

Rivers of regret flooded my soul

Tears watered my pillow

As I waited-broken and alone

Haunting questions

Would he forgive? Is he okay?

Already hurt by the grief of loss

Making arrangements

Through the cords of pain

Others imposing their will

Taking away his right to be

Wasn’t that what I had done?

So I watched for him

Waiting, listening, not knowing

Praying his words would come true

For he had said, “Come Sunday,

We would be together again.”

Friday brought him close enough

To see him briefly

And to say words shrouded

In the sadness of broken dreams

Then a phone call, a glimmer of hope

And I said, “We didn’t make it to Sunday did we?”

He asked in a voice as broken as mine

“Do you want to make it to Sunday?”

“Oh, Yes!” I cried. “Come see me when you can.”

My heart soared on wings of love

As on Saturday, God showed us forgiving grace

“Come Sunday” and my love was here!”

Daylight and Darkness

Daylight and darkness through my window streams

Waking me when the night shadows lift

Then at evening’s tide lulling me into my dreams

Each new day bringing to me it’s glorius gift.

Will I open this bounty of goodness and grace?

Or fretfully peek into tomorrow’s box of woe?

Unopened gifts that my memories cannot embrace

Only gather dust their contents to never show.

The Father sends His gifts wrapped in the quiet morn

Floating on the fragrace of the dawn’s fragile rose

Mercy and forgiveness share joys that are freely borne

To my hurting heart, the reason only He knows.

It is up to me now to carry to the end of my day

These precious gifts of love that He does bestow

And with His Light to show me the way

I will open the gift of eternity’s rainbow.

Soft Winds

Life’s strong currents had carried us

Far beyond ourselves

Lost in the vacant worlds of loneliness

Where the trails of the ‘maybes’ and the ‘could be’s’

Had faded and disappeared

Not finding our way

We wandered down the path

Of fears and self doubt

Then over the crest of time

Soft winds began to blow

A tender kiss, a tiny hug

A look that meant so much

The warm breeze nudging love awake

Beckoning us to come to another place

A place of peace where the other mattered most

And to not be afraid of tomorrow

The soft winds whispered through our souls

Caressed the thoughts of our minds

Springing anew expectant hope

Of a lifetime spent as two

Taking tiny little steps at first

Each fearful of another fall

Yet knowing in our hearts

That the soft winds of a Father’s loving will

Had brought us safely home.

You Don’t Have to Go It Alone

There is a place love goes when it’s dieing

A place so lonely, dark, and cold

A graveyard for the broken-hearted

At the very bottom of the soul.

I cannot understand why this is happening

What have I done? What did I do?

Oh Lord, please hear my heart crying

I can feel me breaking in two!

Then from the depths of despair, I hear Him call

As I faint from this weary load

Don’t give up! Take My hand. I love you!

You don’t have to go it alone!

I can’t carry this burden much longer

The pain is more than I can bear!

Dear Lord, I don’t even want to try!

Where are You? Why aren’t You here?

I can feel my life slowly leaving

There is no strength to carry on

Inside my mind I keep asking

Dear Lord, What have I done?

Then from the depths of despair, I hear Him call

As I faint from this weary load

Don’t give up! Take My hand! I love you!

You don’t have to go it alone!

A Taste of the Wilderness

Most of the time we think life is okay

We, as mortals, can usually find our way

Then comes the great life-changing needs

That knocks us to our ungrateful knees

We flounder under the unending stress

When faced with a taste of the wilderness.

Just like God’s children of old

Who built the forbidden calf of gold

They could not wait just one more day

For Mose’s to show them the Father’s way

Turning their backs on the land of promise

When faced with a taste of the wilderness.

People have not changed in all these years

Hardships are still here along with the tears

But we must never give up or ever turn back

Into the world of bondage to sin and of lack

Always seeking the path that God will bless

When faced with our own taste of the wilderness.

In All Thy Ways

Proverbs 3:5,6 (5) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV)

Acknowledge the LORD in all thy ways

And He will direct your paths

Washing clean your sin-stained past

With the shed blood of Calvary

Mighty angels He could have called

Turned away not cared at all

But the glory before Him was all He could see

So He went to the cross for a sinner like me.

The Great I AM had called Him home

The sins of this world for us atoned

Now we’ll give Him all honor and praise

Acknowledging the LORD in all of our ways

And whatever we do, we’ll know it’s true

God’s grace is sufficient for me and you

He will carry our burdens all for free

He has paid the price on an old wooden tree.

Destiny’s Walk

Over rough roads and dangerous curves

Falling sometimes losing our nerve

“Keep looking forward,” we hear destiny say

“The past can never go this way!”

Ignoring the frivolous thoughts of fear

And benign senses, when we come near

We travel onward where miracles exist

On destiny’s walk there are no ‘as is.’

Renewing hope, not settling for less

No ‘maybes’, no ‘never minds’, or ‘what if’s’

Standing strong when put to the test

We let faith do-what faith does best.

With sureness of spirit we simply go on

Getting this life’s eternal work done

We lift up our heads, give God our hands

Knowing for certain -He knows the plan.

For He, with all His marvelous ways

Keeps every moment, fills all of our days

His hands are not idle, nor useless His talk

His WORD after all, creates ‘destiny’s walk’.

Alongside Jesus

Wandering through the pages of lost time

Across the traces of memories yours and mine

What was I thinking when I did that?

Or, Where was I going as the die was cast?

Grateful hearts then carry us on

Over the ridges of hardened stone

Enduring the valleys to scale mountain heights

Keeping the skies of heaven ever in sight

Climbing always upward with eyes on the goal

His redeeming grace surrounding the soul

Finding at last this safe place to be

Alongside Jesus as He walks with me.

A Friend for Eternal Life

The Guidepost Family Concordance  describes a friend as ‘one highly esteemed’ (pg271). Proverbs 17:17a says: ‘A friend loveth at all times,’ (KJV)and in John 15:13-15 we read where Jesus is telling His Disciples that they are His friends and He theirs. John15: (13)Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (14) Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (15) Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I haved called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known to you. (KJV).  Here He is telling them they have to lay down their own agendas and obey His commands so they can have the revelation knowledge He recieves from the Father. Oh how sweet to be in such communion with the Son of God and to be considered a ‘Friend for Eternal Life’.

A Friend for Eternal Life

To a dieing world He came

Hung on a cross, bore the shame

Gave us a love that will never die

But, still there’s some who don’t know why.

He comes for the poor, the beaten down

Walks the backstreets of every town

Picks up the fallen, forgives the sin

Touches the hearts of mortal men.

He dries the tears, eases the strife

Becomes a friend for eternal life

Cleanses the harlot, washes the bum

Tells of a brighter life to come.

He loves this people, this sinful earth

So he searches the heart finds the worth

Changes life makes it worth living

Sometimes taking but always giving.

A Friend called Jesus, God’s only Son

Was and is the Savior of everyone

Now you know there isn’t any doubt

He’s the only LORD, the One it’s all about.
