And God Said

I had asked God for a miracle today

But the answer had not come

I had cried out in my selfish way

Expecting Him to jump and run

Where is my miracle? I need You so!

I have asked in the Lord’s Name

Dear God, why are You being so slow?

Everything is just the same!

As I was crying out to Him

A little girl called my name

And with a smile as bright as the sun

Through the door she came.

And God said, “There is your miracle today.”

Then my oldest daughter came through that door

Upset with the things of the day

As I smiled at her, this child I adore

She gave me a kiss as she went on her way

And God said, “There is your miracle today.”

My wonderful husband and son

Came through that very same door

Smiling and laughing, having such fun

Making my heart and spirit soar

And God said, “There is your miracle today.”

Dear God I ask forgiveness for my selfish thoughts

And with a humble heart I pray

Never let me forget the grace by which I was bought.

And God Said, “There is your miracle today!”

You, and You, and Me

what kind of world can it be

when wars abound for all to see?

what kind of life can be had

when petty people act so bad?

what can the children do for play

when the world has turned to ashen gray?

what can make all hearts light again

when all there is —is tears of pain?

what kind of world can it be

for you, and you, and me?

when no one takes the time to see

what hate can do to you, and you, and me!

By Holy Grace

Under the shadow of an empty cross

My Lord found me so lonely and lost

Tempted and tried I had fallen from grace

I just wanted to hide in a dark dreary place.

But from the bondage of my tormented soul

I heard Him whisper, “I can make you whole.”

“Oh, crying child don’t you see?

“By Holy Grace I have ransomed thee!”

No longer the captive of shameful tears

He cleansed by heart of all it’s fears

and brought me beyond my cross of shame

To an old wooden one that bore His name.

He walked me out of that shadowy night

Into the glory of His precious saving Light

I felt His love embracing me

As by Holy Grace he set me free.

Letting Go

There’s not much joy in a sack full of holes

Nor in heavy burdens that exact their tolls

Empty sacks can’t get us anywhere

Hard are the burdens ‘we’ won’t share.

We’ll carry each little hurt, along with the pain

Not letting go, “What have ‘we’ to gain?”

“We’re not the ones who are at fault!”

“Why, should ‘we’ forgive?” “Bring hate to a halt?”

“Never,” ‘we’ say, “will ‘we’ forgive!”

“No, never, as long as ‘we’ live!”

Harboring these burdens of turmoil and strife

‘We’ allow them complete control of our life.

‘We’ in our own selfish, uncaring thoughts

Can’t seem to remember, nor do as ‘we’ ought

For God’s Word has told ‘us’ in more ways than one

Christ Jesus paid the price-redemption’s work is done!

He is asking ‘us’ now to lay down the hate

To forgive each other-it’s not to late

Let’s fill our hearts with joy galore

Extending mercy like never before.

‘We’ cast all of our cares on His strong back

Forgetting the past as love fills ‘our’ sack

Continuing on now forgiveness in tow

‘We’ receive God’s grace by ‘Letting Go!’

You Don’t Have to Go It Alone

There is a place love goes when it’s dieing

A place so lonely, dark, and cold

A graveyard for the broken-hearted

At the very bottom of the soul.

I cannot understand why this is happening

What have I done? What did I do?

Oh Lord, please hear my heart crying

I can feel me breaking in two!

Then from the depths of despair, I hear Him call

As I faint from this weary load

Don’t give up! Take My hand. I love you!

You don’t have to go it alone!

I can’t carry this burden much longer

The pain is more than I can bear!

Dear Lord, I don’t even want to try!

Where are You? Why aren’t You here?

I can feel my life slowly leaving

There is no strength to carry on

Inside my mind I keep asking

Dear Lord, What have I done?

Then from the depths of despair, I hear Him call

As I faint from this weary load

Don’t give up! Take My hand! I love you!

You don’t have to go it alone!

Unseen Hands

Invisible love of unseen hands

Unfold the blankets of the heart

Layers of doubt-wrinkles of shame

Imbedded woes of long ago

Trapped images of fleeting wrongs

Gathered like straw within the mind

Forbidding the joy to be free

One by one the faults are driven

Far from the shattered spirits

To a place of wholeness, within

Realms of hope with blessed peace

Where unseen hands caress

With tender touches of grace

Knitting forgiveness of self

To the hurts of others

Going beyond what needs to be

To belong once again

Where the beautiful memories

Of only the good doth dwell.

Alongside Jesus

Wandering through the pages of lost time

Across the traces of memories yours and mine

What was I thinking when I did that?

Or, Where was I going as the die was cast?

Grateful hearts then carry us on

Over the ridges of hardened stone

Enduring the valleys to scale mountain heights

Keeping the skies of heaven ever in sight

Climbing always upward with eyes on the goal

His redeeming grace surrounding the soul

Finding at last this safe place to be

Alongside Jesus as He walks with me.

A Friend for Eternal Life

The Guidepost Family Concordance  describes a friend as ‘one highly esteemed’ (pg271). Proverbs 17:17a says: ‘A friend loveth at all times,’ (KJV)and in John 15:13-15 we read where Jesus is telling His Disciples that they are His friends and He theirs. John15: (13)Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (14) Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (15) Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I haved called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known to you. (KJV).  Here He is telling them they have to lay down their own agendas and obey His commands so they can have the revelation knowledge He recieves from the Father. Oh how sweet to be in such communion with the Son of God and to be considered a ‘Friend for Eternal Life’.

A Friend for Eternal Life

To a dieing world He came

Hung on a cross, bore the shame

Gave us a love that will never die

But, still there’s some who don’t know why.

He comes for the poor, the beaten down

Walks the backstreets of every town

Picks up the fallen, forgives the sin

Touches the hearts of mortal men.

He dries the tears, eases the strife

Becomes a friend for eternal life

Cleanses the harlot, washes the bum

Tells of a brighter life to come.

He loves this people, this sinful earth

So he searches the heart finds the worth

Changes life makes it worth living

Sometimes taking but always giving.

A Friend called Jesus, God’s only Son

Was and is the Savior of everyone

Now you know there isn’t any doubt

He’s the only LORD, the One it’s all about.
