There Was Always Hope

Today I have made a choice at last

Choosing to become complete

I will take the moments in my past

That may be sad or oh so sweet

And knit them to my heart today

With the golden strands of life

And starlight from the Milky Way

Keeping joy to guard against the strife

I faced my hardships and trials

Walking the darkness of the scary night

Following the wrong paths of denials

Yet always coming back into the light

Many times it was so tiring just to cope

But knowing in the end I would be okay

My dream knew there was always hope

And, Father God, to show me the way.

Sometimes

Sometimes broken in a thousand pieces

Sometimes strong and capable

Sometimes sad and lost

Sometimes happy and grateful

Sometimes defeated in life

Sometimes flying with the eagles

Sometimes impatient and angry

Sometimes quiet and contemt

Sometimes anxious and afraid

Sometimes heroic and brave

Sometimes confused and doubtful

Sometimes trusting and obediant

Sometimes running and hiding

Sometimes braving the storm alone

Sometimes hateful and unforgiving

Sometimes peaceful and nice

Sometimes I am all of the above

At any given moment in time

Thank God for His grace that covers me

And His mercy that allows me

To be me: not sometimes

But at all times because He loves: ME!

No More Sadness

Tears of sadness filled our eyes

Death had heard our mournful cries

No joy had come to us as yet

With happiness we were not beset

But we knew deep down in our soul

We would not sink into depression’s hole

We would fight these feelings of woe and dread

Until at last our soul was fed

No more sadness would we feel

With God’s great glory we start to heal

Now our tree of life will never bend

Happiness again floats on the wind.

Nurtured by God’s Heaven

A misty mountain rain

Will make the meadows grow

The warmth of the sun

Will melt away the snow

Flowers in magnificent bloom

Smile in the morning glow

When all are nurtured

By God’s Heaven

Life puts on her show!

I Hear the Angels

I hear the angels

Calling out His Name

I hear the angels

His love they proclaim

I hear the angels

Singing up on high

Singing of His love

In Heaven’s great sky

I hear the angels

Singing in my spirit

I hear the angels

Oh! How I feel it!

I hear the angels

Calling me to see

Calling, Yes calling my Master to me!

How many times have we

Passed this way

And not seen the light of day?

How many times have we

Stopped to say

“Oh, How are you today?”

How many times have we

Given our smiles away?

How Many times have we

Planned to help someone along the way?

How many times have we

Hoped to say

“I’ve made a new friend today!”

How many times have we

Knelt to pray

“Please God, Make me a better person today?”

Light From Above

The peace of God

Came as Light from above

Hurrying on

Angels wings of love

The glory of God

Came inside my soul

Carrying away

All fears and woe

As my praises went up

Into the heavenly skies

He dried the tears

Of this grateful child.

A Faraway Land

I dream of a faraway beautiful land

A place that is majestic and grand

With gates of pearls and jasper stone

I dream of a mansion that is all my own

With airy rooms so light and free

Surrounded by a brillant crystal sea

I dream of my Savior’s beautiful face

Who will come and take me to this holy place

For He has promised and will keep His Word

I dream of His white horse and flaming sword

The angels singing harmony across the skies

As He removes the evil with its tormented cries

I dream of going to my eternal place in glory

For I believed the Bible’s old, old story

Now I dream that all will heed the warning

And get right with God before the morning

He will split the Eastern sky with lightning bright

It will not be a dream visiting you in the night

I invite you to go with me to that beautiful faraway land.

An Anniversary Poem

Fifty years have come and gone

Since you said your ‘I Do’s’

Confessing your love-becoming as one

Happy and blessed with love so true.

Joy came that precious day long ago

When God joined you as bride and groom

You have always been able to show

How smiles can light up a room.

Blessed by the Father to be Mom and Dad

Sheltering and caring with each new day

Giving all the love that you had

To guide, to teach, in your own special way.

Times were sometimes hard and tough

Others were sweet and good

Through everything your love was enough

You always did the best that you could.

Today as these sweet memories come back to you

With recollections of how your love stood the test

Have a ‘Happy Anniversary,’ and remember this too

God, along with all of us,  do wish you only the best.

Life is a Leveler

This poem came out of a time when my life had been put on hold to help others and harsh words had hurt me deep within my spirit but Jesus had my back and helped me through this trying time.

Life is a leveler

And seeks it’s own

Then wants more

Emptying my soul of joy

When the stress gets to bad

I stumble in the darkness

Tripping over my own thoughts

What else do I have-

That is worth the fight?

Do I hang on to this?

Or let go of that?

Will it matter in the end?

What will I do-

When I finally break?

Will anyone care?

And put me together again?

Words maybe if soft and sweet

Could be just the thing

That is needed to fix my heart

Love seems to be the thin veil

Used to cover up the cause

I evidently did or said

Something that was wrong

When everything is finally done

And all the lights go out

Will joy come back out of the dark

And caress me in the night?
