Captured in the whirlwind
Of this thing called life
Carried upon each thought
Time pushing and pulling me
To where my destiny grows.
With my heart in my hand
I offer to you
The best that I am
The worse that I’ll be
I’ll not promise a thing
That I can’t keep
But with all of my being
My soul and my mind
I do promise to love you
For the rest of time
I’ll make mistakes
As you will see
Cry a tear or two
This is me!
I’ll proabably get mad
I sometimes do
When things go wrong
Or I get blue
When I can’t be strong
I’ll leave it to you
To be patient and kind
You’ll know what to do
Just hold me close
Show me you care
In your own special way
Always be there
And in no time at all
With our love we will see
The very best me
I was created to be! (9-11-2006) Read at our wedding November 10, 2006
Standing in line
Out here in the cold
Waiting to see You
Of whom I’ve been told
I hear You are my Savior
I hear You are my Lord
So, I am standing in line
Out here in the cold.
Standing in line
With a child’s broken heart
Prayng to see You
To get a new start
I hear You are so wonderful
I hear You are so true
So I am standing in line
What else can I do?
Standing in line
With tears in my soul
Seeking to find You
Of whom I’ve been told
I hear You will forgive me
I hear I’ll be whole
So I’m standing in line
Out here in the cold.
Now the door is open
And I’m going through
With out-stretched arms
I am drawn to You
No longer crying
I know that You are mine
I have found my Jesus
At the end of the line.
When time takes us down
The trail of life
It does not ask
For directions
God chooses the path
We meet eternal blessings
And earthly hardships
Along the way
See many a beautiful thing
Encounter the saddness
Of broken hearts
As we travel on
Beholding the miracles
That only faith an bring
We see that within
The mountain’s height
And the valley’s depth
Are the precious wonders
That we call our
Beloved friends.
every trail I have come across
led to every place
I have ever been
whether I took them
or simply passed on by
they knew the way
that led me straight to you
so abide with me
stay close to me
lead as you always do
so that every place
I will ever go
is still the trail
I walk with you.
Cast away, cast away, cast away all
While dancing to the tune of destiny’s call
Coupled by love and pangs of regret
Still going and going but not there yet
Borrowing time on promises made
Cashing in where our dreams were laid
Never fulfilled-life took its toll
Destroyed the moment reality took hold
Can not see into tomorrow nor face the day
Whatever the reason-we went this way
May not have been right-we just don’t know
Seemed like the path we should surely go
Each step has proven this was not the case
Look at us now-hurry-there’s no time to waste
So cast away, cast away, cast away all!
While dancing to the tune of destiny’s call
Psalm 90:9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.”
“We spend our days as a tale that is told.”
From our infancy until we are considered old
So what will our life’s tale have to say,
About our walk into this God-given day?
Were we good children when put to the test?
Was patience a nearly impossible quest?
Would we bring honor to our God and King?
If our life was to be our only offering?
Our days are flying by at eternal speed
As God is still meeting our earthly need
So will this be the testimony of our broken soul?
The tale that Christ Jesus has made us whole?
OH! We must tell the tales that need to be told!
The ones about Heaven and the streets of gold
Show the children the paths to be trod
How to be saved by the truths of God
We need to speak about the love that flowed so free
From Calvary’s timbered bloody tree
OH! Sinner listen and don’t walk hell’s path
The Word tells us of the Father’s eternal wrath
The Truth has been told for God cannot lie
There are two places to go when we die
We will be responsible for what we behold
For God has written down the tale our life told.
GAZING BEYOND THE STARRY SKIES OF INFINITY
CARRIED BY SPACE AND TIME
TO THE UNKNOWN AREAS OF THE MIND
COSMIC MATTER FORMING THE TRIAD OF GOD
SPOKEN INTO THE REALM OF REASONING
PIECES OF BEINGS BELONGING TO NO ONE
COME FROM THE ESSENCE OF LIFE
PARTAKNG AND THRIVING
EVERYWHERE AT ONCE
TO FORM SUCH A THING AS MAN.
No wonder the Father will be angry
When His earthly children fail to see
The miracle of what He had done
When He sent His only begotten Son
This special gift from heaven above
Arrived with all power, authority, and love
Redemtion came as a babe that day
To be the Truth, the Life, and the Way
Bound by the promise to give His all
He willingly answered the Father’s call
His Mama wept her tears of grateful joy
As she held her precious little Boy
Knowing as they were streaming down her face
She had been touched by wondrous grace
Now every mother’s child can chose to be
Redeemed and miraculously set free
“Choose ye this day” is still the call
To serve the One who gave His all.
The future danced
Beyond my thoughts
He had said, “Come Sunday,
We would be together again-
Just hang on to the hope ahead.”
Then it happened!
I said the wrong thing
Stress exploded
Shattering the promise
Rivers of regret flooded my soul
Tears watered my pillow
As I waited-broken and alone
Haunting questions
Would he forgive? Is he okay?
Already hurt by the grief of loss
Making arrangements
Through the cords of pain
Others imposing their will
Taking away his right to be
Wasn’t that what I had done?
So I watched for him
Waiting, listening, not knowing
Praying his words would come true
For he had said, “Come Sunday,
We would be together again.”
Friday brought him close enough
To see him briefly
And to say words shrouded
In the sadness of broken dreams
Then a phone call, a glimmer of hope
And I said, “We didn’t make it to Sunday did we?”
He asked in a voice as broken as mine
“Do you want to make it to Sunday?”
“Oh, Yes!” I cried. “Come see me when you can.”
My heart soared on wings of love
As on Saturday, God showed us forgiving grace
“Come Sunday” and my love was here!”
