How Long?

How long will you torture yourself  inside

For things that have gone wrong?

How long, from Him, will you try to hide?

Oh, how long will you allow the thought

You’re not worth the try?

How long will your loved ones

Weep their mournful cries?

How long will you walk

The roads of hell this way?

Oh, how long before you

Finally kneel and pray?

How long until you listen to your heart?

How long will it take to ask

For a brand new start?

How Long? Oh! Wandering lost soul!

How long before you return to the fold?

How long will you blame God and others, too?

Oh, how long will you put off

The things you were meant to do?

How long will you stay so wrong, so wild?

Oh, how long before you realize,

To God, you are still His child!

There is a Way

Proverbs 14:12-15- 12. There is a way which seemth right unto a man, but the end there of are the ways of death. 13. Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness. 14. The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. 15. The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. (KJV)

Today after I returned home from a wonderful church service, I went next door to my neighbor’s house to visit while my husband downloaded some pictures from the camera onto the computer.  My neighbor and I were talking about how sweet the Spirit moved this morning and as we were talking I felt the Spirit hugging me which is what I call it when every fiber of my being is alive with witness to something that is being said or done. I mentioned this to her and she told me about a time when she was a little girl that she first experienced Him touching her. Her Daddy was a preacher and preached the ‘fire and brimstone’ messages of the day.  She said she started having a few nightmares then she prayed and they went away. She told me about one she had when she was six years old.  She was in a huge room full of light and on one wall was a small door. She opened the door and went into the next room which was smaller than the first and had an even smaller door. She opened it and passed into the next room which was smaller still and had another small door. The next room was even tinier than the previous one and that door was the smallest of all but she opened it. It scared her so bad because she knew even at that young age that this was hell! Then she woke up. Now this dear lady is 84 years old and the nicest, sweetest person you could ever know who has been through so much in her life but she still walks with God every day. This story so witnessed to me because I understood that this symbolized our walk with God. When we are where we should be there is the Light but as we take that first step away from God our lives get smaller but we chose to open the door for whatever reason or excuse in most cases  Then we are sorrowful and in heaviness’ but we call it ‘depression’.  If we continue to step farther away (backslide) by going through other doors (or our own ways which leads to death) our existence is even more oppressive with life being smaller. Finally we may reach the point of no return and our way that we thought as the right way takes us straight to hell! To come back to the Light would mean having to swallow our pride and repent! I opened a lot of these doors in my walk away from God at certain points in my life but by His wonderful mercy and abiding grace He accepted me back as like the prodigal ‘I came to myself and returned to the Father’s house. ‘The prudent man looketh well to his going’.

God’s Golden Angel

She has touched my life with

God’s tender loving grace

Helped me through the pain that

Sometimes I can’t face

She has shown me the silent courage that

It always seems to take

To be a better person each morning

When I wake

She has been my beacon shining with

God’s great, loving Light

Giving me the strength to win

Each battle that I fight

With age-worn hands she has brushed

Away the tears

Circled me with loving arms

To chase away the fears

She has put me in her pocket

To keep me safe and sound

I only hope I’ll walk beside her

When she reaches, God’s holy ground.

Gracious Words

Gracious words floating on the air

Caress the heart that has grown cold

Spoken with much love and care

Welcoming the young and the old

“Come unto Me and I will give you rest.”

“Mercy and Grace I will bestow.”

“My promises are always for your best.”

“Simply because I love you so.”

Listen dear people across this land

To the truthful Word He speaks

As He extends a nail-scared hand

To every precious soul He seeks.

I—And YOU

I held out my hand to YOU

And YOU took it.

I cried out in pain to YOU

And YOU eased it.

I offered my empty heart to YOU

And YOU filled it.

I gave my love to YOU

And YOU embraced it.

I confessed my sin to YOU

And YOU forgave it.

I delivered my soul to YOU

And YOU saved it.

I handed my marriage to YOU

And YOU blessed it.

I sent up my thanks to YOU

And YOU welcomed it.

I lifted my praise to YOU

And YOU received it.

Oh! LORD JESUS! This YOU have done for me!

Thank YOU from the depth of my being!

LOVE, Karen

Free Hearts

Walking through the unknown at times

Surprises are welcomed-even enjoyed

Yet, sometimes scary, frightful thoughts

Bind up the heart

What do I do now?

Why did this happen?

Will everything be okay?

Of course! God has promised me!

And God cannot lie.

It is just me who questions

The “Why did this happen?”

And the, “How can this be allowed?”

I fret over the little things

Gripe and murmur about the hard

That’s not good! Hearts are heavy

Burdened by doubts and unbelief

God sees my moods

He hears my every thought

Can’t hide them from Him

Still the Grace! His wonderful Grace!

Oh! Where would we be without it?!

Tortured souls would be rampant

They are anyways-but only because

The tormented do not know

Their hearts can be free

Most of the time

They do not care to know

About His wonderful, life-giving

Guilt-smashing, mind-soothing Grace.

A free heart is a forgiven heart

Full of mercy, kindness, and love

The burdens have been lifted

He carries the load

I only have to obey His Word

Be forgiving as He is

When I can’t, I tell Him and repent

Then He takes the lead

Guides me to His Mercy Seat of Grace

And I am cleansed from all sin

A free heart is a clean heart

Holds no grudges, nor heavy feelings

Soft and ready to forgive

Giving Grace to the one who has hurt

The one that pierced the innocent’s heart

Scaring it beyond perceived hope

Crying tears of release for all now

Praying they will find this peace

In their own Salvation

A free heart is a loving entity

Which Grace has supplied

With the balm of peace

Questions have been answered

Fears relieved

Doubts replaced with quiet understanding

Immortal destinies are revealed

Hope is renewed

Hearts are free again.

Did You?

Did you help when someone needed you?

Go that extra mile?

Did you do what you should do

To turn their tears into smiles?

Did you lighten someone’s heavy load?

Chase their blues away?

Did you smooth out their bumpy road?

Bring sunshine to their day?

Did you love someone’s hurts away?

Erase their trouubled minds?

Did you heal their broken heart someway?

Or was compassion hard to find?

Did you do what was asked of you?

No matter what the cost?

Did you save a soul from hell today?

Search for the one that was lost?

Did you do what Christ would do?

Arise Dear Child

Sunlight sparkles on morning dew

Robins sing sweet chords so true

Gentle breezes seem to say

Arise, Dear Child, it’s your wedding day.

Clouds are whispering-dancing free

This wonderous day is just for thee

Old hurts are gone, all is new

So, Arise Dear Child, this song’s for you.

Roses and orchids, their sweet smell send

Lilacs waving like a welcomed friend

Joined this day by a golden braid

Arise, Dear Child, be not afraid.

Glory sings in angelic praise

Your hearts as one to the Father you’ll raise

With holy hands from Heaven above

He will bless this union with eternal love.

So, Arise, Dear Child, take your place

With love and mercy, goodness and grace

Side by side you will step before His throne

Never again to walk alone.

Whoever Leads

Beauty for ashes

Brings the promise

Good follows bad

Like flowers on weeds

Lily pond’s rain

And sunshine mornings

Life’s simple needs

Matter to everyone

Love over hate

Joy dried tears

New faces old creeds

With thoughts beyond time

Tomorrow grows up

Taught by whoever leads.

We Will See

Will everything be all right?

Silence cries into the night

Weeping for what used to be

Now no more than a memory

Will everything be all right?

We will see says the night.
